This edited volume contains a chapter by CEPS Director Daniel Gros entitled “Banking Union instead of Fiscal Union?” in which he draws lessons for the EU from the experience of the United States with fiscal integration. The chapters in the book, edited by Franklin Allen, Elena Carletti and Joanna Gray, were originally prepared for presentation at a conference held at the European University Institute in Florence, 25 April 2013.
