Researcher

Fanny Sauvignon is a Researcher in the Foreign Policy Unit at CEPS.

Her current research covers EU connectivity engagement and international partnerships with countries and regions in Asia-Pacific and across the ‘Global South’.

Prior to joining CEPS, Fanny spent around five years in East Asia, mostly in South Korea. From 2019 to 2022, in her former Seoul-based position, she worked in global ocean energy project development with a wide array of stakeholders from the public, private, research and civil society sectors. Key geographic areas included ASEAN, the Indian Ocean and the North Atlantic. This spurred her interest in the climate-development nexus and how it relates to international relations, human rights, technology, as well as maritime and coastal affairs.

During her studies, Fanny completed international development internships in NGO and research positions, with a general focus on vocational education and youth integration in the MENA region, Southern Europe, West Africa and Southeast Asia. She also took part in research projects on corporate Environmental and Social Governance. Her experience covers a variety of data collection and analysis methods, including interviews, surveys and mapping analyses.

Fanny holds a Bachelor’s in Economics and Management and a Master’s in Management (Grande Ecole) from ESSEC Business School, as well as a Master of Arts in International Cooperation from the Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies (SNU-GSIS). She wrote her Master’s thesis on marriage migrant women in South Korea and their civil society support. She likes to approach international affairs through the prism of gender and civil society.

Her mother tongue is French. She also has an excellent command of English, working proficiency in Korean and basic proficiency in German, Italian and Portuguese.
