As data-driven solutions advance at a rapid pace and hold the potential to transform the future of mobility, we need to devise a regulatory framework that can support such developments to the benefit of all stakeholders.
Mobility is one of the nine ‘data spaces’ set to be developed in key sectors of the EU’s economy, with high expectations of boosting innovation and growth. The challenges, however, are numerous.
This study provides a comprehensive overview of what is acting as a brake on connected and automated mobility solutions in the EU, and maps the regulatory barriers and market deficiencies that have so far hindered data-sharing in the field.
The study relies on an extensive review of the state of the art, as well as detailed input from stakeholders in the automotive sector. It is complemented by a report outlining detailed policy recommendations and an action plan to support data sharing in the field of mobility, which can be accessed here.
As part of the project “Big Data and B2B platforms: the next big opportunity for Europe”, this study was funded by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) and the European Commission.
Similarly, a report on regulatory barriers and market deficiencies in the field of health data sharing and EU-wide B2B health data marketplaces was also prepared.
